Graciosa Airport guide

Graciosa Airport (ICAO LPGR) sits on the northern coast of Graciosa, one of the smallest islands in the Azores. The aerodrome lies about 2 km west-northwest of Santa Cruz da Graciosa, the island's main town, so the trip into town is short.

The runway was built by the Azorean Regional Government between 1979 and 1981 and inaugurated on 11 July 1981. Its single asphalt strip, designated 09/27, measures 1,268 m by 30 m in the Portuguese aeronautical information publication. A replacement terminal building opened on 1 October 2001.

In 2021 SATA Gestão de Aeródromos signed a contract of about 6.16 million euros to build a new single-storey terminal of 2,485 square metres. The design provides for check-in counters, a bar, shops, a departure lounge, baggage reclaim and a cold room for cargo, and is sized for 120 passengers at once, roughly three quarters of the capacity of two Dash 8 Q400 aircraft. The old building is to be demolished only after the new one is fully operating.

SATA Air Açores operates the scheduled service from Graciosa, linking the island to Terceira.
