Vila Real Airport guide

Vila Real Airport, officially the Aeródromo Municipal de Vila Real, sits about 4 km southeast of Vila Real in the Douro region of northern Portugal. It is a small regional aerodrome at 558 m above sea level, set on high ground above the town.

The airport has a single asphalt runway, 02/20, measuring 946 by 29 metres. It is non-controlled and open to both IFR and VFR traffic, with an aerodrome flight information service rather than a control tower. The aerodrome is open from 07:30 to 20:00, or sunset if earlier. Night flights are allowed until 23:59 with 24 hours' prior permission. The runway has been repaired after a sinkhole risk was found, and scheduled flights have resumed since.

Sevenair flies scheduled and charter services from Vila Real to Bragança, Lisbon-Cascais, Portimão and Viseu. The municipality of Vila Real operates the aerodrome. A new terminal building for the fire service, police, customs and an air club was under construction in 2023. The airport has no customs service listed, so it does not handle international passenger flights.
