Port Moresby Jacksons International Airport sits approximately 9 kilometres outside Port Moresby in the Saraga district, serving as Papua New Guinea's primary gateway for international and domestic travel. The airport handles around 1.4 million passengers annually and is the main hub for Air Niugini, the national carrier, as well as PNG Air.

The airport originated as a World War II airfield known as 7 Mile Drome and was renamed in honour of Australian fighter ace John Francis Jackson, killed in action during the New Guinea campaign in 1942. Commercial operations developed steadily after the war, and the current terminal was built in 1959.

Operated by the National Airports Corporation, the facility has two passenger terminals linked by a covered walkway. The international terminal features aerobridge-equipped bays and connects Papua New Guinea with Australia, China, the Philippines, and Pacific island nations. A major redevelopment project — the Airport City initiative — is underway ahead of PNG's 50th independence anniversary in 2025, with upgrades to terminal capacity, passenger processing, and airside infrastructure.
