Bergen Airport, Flesland is located 20 kilometres south of Bergen city centre at Flesland, on the southwestern coast of Norway. Opened in 1955 with NATO funding, it is the second-busiest airport in Norway and the main gateway to the fjord region of western Norway. The airport serves over 6.3 million passengers per year.
The current single-terminal building, largely rebuilt in 2017, handles both domestic and international flights under one roof. Separate gate zones manage Schengen and non-Schengen passengers beyond a single security checkpoint. Three airlines — SAS Scandinavian Airlines, Norwegian, and Widerøe — carry the majority of passengers, with Widerøe operating an extensive domestic and regional network from Bergen.
The Bergen Light Rail (Bybanen) connects the airport to the city centre in around 45 minutes, extended to Flesland in 2017. The airport has one runway and handles routes to 20 domestic and over 50 international destinations.
