Stavanger Airport, Sola is Norway's oldest airport, opened on 29 May 1937 by King Haakon VII. Located 12-14 km southwest of Stavanger city center in the municipality of Sola, it serves the Stavanger-Sandnes metropolitan area and southwestern Norway. It is Norway's third-busiest airport and one of the top 10 in the Nordic countries.

The airport handles approximately 3.9 million passengers per year. A single terminal serves both domestic and international fixed-wing traffic. A separate helicopter terminal, opened in 1989, supports one of Europe's largest offshore helicopter operations — connecting crews to North Sea oil and gas platforms in the Norwegian sector.
