Hosea Kutako International Airport is Namibia's primary international gateway, located 45 km east of Windhoek along the B6 highway. Sitting at an elevation of 1,719 m above sea level, it handles the overwhelming majority of international arrivals and departures into the country. The airport was originally opened in 1965 as J.G. Strijdom Airport under South African administration and was renamed after independence in 1990 to honour Namibian national hero Hosea Kutako.

The airport operates a single passenger terminal handling both international routes and the limited domestic traffic that passes through. Domestic services are predominantly concentrated at Windhoek Eros Airport, closer to the city centre. Hosea Kutako's two runways—the primary measuring 4,532 m—are capable of handling wide-body aircraft on long-haul routes including scheduled services to Doha, Addis Ababa, and Frankfurt.

The Namibia Airports Company has outlined significant expansion plans, including a new terminal building with separate VIP facilities, a new runway, and an expanded apron to accommodate rising passenger volumes and growing tourism demand.
