Beira International Airport guide

Beira International Airport is the main air gateway to Sofala Province in central Mozambique. It sits on the coastal plain about 9 km from downtown Beira, close to the Indian Ocean and the port that serves much of the region's trade.

The airport handled about 198,000 passengers in 2023, a rise of roughly 21 percent on the year before. Most traffic is domestic, with LAM Mozambique Airlines linking Beira to Maputo, Nampula, Pemba, Tete and Chimoio. International flights go to Johannesburg and Addis Ababa. Airlink and Ethiopian Airlines serve those routes.

Three asphalt runways are on record. The longest, 12/30, is about 2,360 m, enough for narrow-body jets and business aircraft. Aeroportos de Mocambique, the state airports company, operates the airport. The single two-level terminal keeps arrivals, immigration and baggage claim on the ground floor and check-in and departures upstairs. Beira is also a gateway for travel toward Gorongosa National Park and the Zimbabwe border via the Beira Corridor.
