Maputo Airport Guide

Maputo International Airport sits 3 kilometres northwest of Maputo's city centre, making it one of the closest major African airports to a national capital. It is the primary international gateway to Mozambique and the main hub for LAM Mozambique Airlines and Moçambique Expresso.

The airport has two terminals: an international terminal opened in November 2010 with capacity for 900,000 passengers per year, and a domestic terminal built on the site of the original facility. The international terminal includes 14 check-in counters, electronic flight displays, and a VIP lounge. In 2024, Menzies Aviation opened a dedicated cargo facility at the airport.

Passenger numbers crossed one million in 2023, reflecting steady growth. International routes connect Maputo to Johannesburg, Cape Town, Nairobi, Doha, Addis Ababa, Luanda, and Lisbon, among others. The airport is operated by Aeroportos de Moçambique, the national airports authority.
