General Guadalupe Victoria International Airport Guide
General Guadalupe Victoria International Airport serves Durango, capital of Durango state in north-central Mexico. Named after Guadalupe Victoria, the country's first president, it was inaugurated on October 15, 1970, replacing an earlier airfield built in 1944 by Líneas Aéreas Mexicanas. Grupo Aeroportuario Centro Norte (OMA) operates the airport at an elevation of 1,860 metres, one of the highest in OMA's network.
A single runway, 2,900 metres long, handles all traffic. In 2025 the airport carried 569,657 passengers, up 6.5% from 534,993 the year before. OMA completed a 200-million-peso terminal expansion in September 2024, adding new construction and remodelling work that brought the building to 5,704 square metres and raised annual capacity to 760,000 passengers.
Volaris and Aeroméxico Connect anchor the domestic schedule, connecting Durango to Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Tijuana and Querétaro. American Airlines flies to Dallas/Fort Worth and Volaris to Chicago-Midway, the airport's only international routes. Aerus and Viva Aerobus round out the network, linking the state's mining, timber and agricultural industries to destinations beyond the region.
