Dharavandhoo Airport guide

Dharavandhoo Airport (ICAO VRMD) is a domestic airport on Dharavandhoo island in Baa Atoll. The island covers 0.46 square kilometres and had 997 residents at the 2022 census.

The airport opened on 17 October 2012. Coastline Hotels and Resorts developed it under a public-private partnership, and Island Aviation Services took over operations from the developer in 2026. It has a single asphalt runway, 12/30, 1,189 metres long. Maldivian, Manta Air and Flyme connect the island with Malé and other Maldivian airports. Tourists make up about 72 percent of traffic.

Island Aviation Services has launched a terminal expansion project that will add 814 square metres to the terminal. The plans include a larger arrivals area, more check-in counters, new baggage handling, a café, a new departure gate and an executive lounge. The island is the usual entry point for Hanifaru Bay, a marine protected area about a kilometre away where manta rays and whale sharks gather.
