Kadhdhoo Airport guide

Kadhdhoo Airport is a domestic airport on Kadhdhoo island in Laamu Atoll, in the south of the Maldives. It is the only airport in the atoll and sits roughly halfway between Malé and Gan. Its ICAO code is VRMK.

Runway excavation began on 11 January 1982, and the final runway layer was completed on 6 April 1986. The government paid for most of the work, with help from the UNDP, ICAO and the OPEC Fund. The single bituminous runway, 03/21, measures 1,220 m by 30 m, and the airfield lies 1.2 m above sea level. It takes short take-off and landing aircraft of up to 5,700 kg.

Maldivian flies from Kadhdhoo to Malé, Gan, Kaadedhdhoo and Kooddoo. Flyme connects it with Malé and Maamigili. The government has signed an agreement with China CAMC Engineering to redevelop the airport for international flights, with a 2.45 km runway and a terminal sized for 300 passengers at peak hours. A second Laamu airport has been selected for Isdhoo-Kalaidhoo.
