Tazadit Airport guide

Tazadit Airport serves Zouérat, the iron ore mining town in the Tiris Zemmour region of northern Mauritania. The airport sits at an elevation of 341 metres in the Sahara, close to the mining operations that anchor the local economy. Its ICAO code is GQPZ.

The airport has a single asphalt runway, designated 09/27, at about 2,500 metres. That length handles regional turboprops and jets, and it suits the charter and corporate flights that support the mines. Published sources give slightly different runway lengths, with one listing the longest runway at 2,400 metres.

Scheduled service is thin. Mauritania Airlines flies the only regular route, linking Zouérat with Nouadhibou in about one hour, and timetable data shows roughly two flights a week. Most other long-distance travel in the region goes by road or by the mining railway toward the coast, so travellers connecting to international flights usually route through Nouakchott or Nouadhibou.

The airport has no customs or immigration facilities, so it works as a domestic field. Published sources give no passenger statistics, movement counts or opening year, so those fields are left empty. Visitors should confirm flight days with the airline before travelling, because the schedule is small and can change.
