Yangon International Airport guide

Yangon International Airport is Myanmar's main gateway. It lies in Mingaladon Township, about 15 km north of central Yangon. The airport opened in 1947 and the government of Myanmar owns it. Yangon Aerodrome Co., Ltd runs day-to-day operations.

A single asphalt runway, designated 03/21 and 3,414 m long, serves the airfield. In 2018 the airport handled about 6.1 million passengers, of whom roughly 3.9 million travelled internationally, on around 78,000 aircraft movements. No later official figures were found.

The current terminals date from the 2010s. The international building opened in March 2016 and the domestic building followed in December 2016. The older international terminal was closed for renovation in July 2018, and international flights now use the newer building. Bangkok is the busiest international route, followed by Singapore. Myanmar Airways International and Myanmar National Airlines run the broadest networks, with services across Southeast Asia, China and India.
