Vilnius International Airport Guide
Vilnius Čiurlionis International Airport is Lithuania's largest and busiest airport, located 5.9 km south of Vilnius city centre. It is the second-busiest airport in the Baltic states and handled approximately 4.8 million passengers in 2024. A new 14,400 m² departure terminal opened in February 2025, doubling hourly passenger capacity from 1,200 to 2,400.
The airport serves as a focus city for Ryanair and Wizz Air, and a hub for airBaltic. Scheduled services connect to 57 destinations across 30 countries, primarily within Europe. LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines, and other full-service carriers also operate regular flights. A direct rail link connects the airport to Vilnius central station, with the 4.3 km journey taking around 8 minutes.
The airport first opened in 1932 as Wilno–Porubanek during the Second Polish Republic period and has operated continuously since. It is managed by JSC Lithuanian Airports under the Lithuanian Ministry of Transport and Communications. Ongoing redevelopment of the older terminal buildings is scheduled through 2026, with a new arrivals terminal planned for completion by 2028.
