Monbetsu Airport Guide
Monbetsu Airport, also called Okhotsk Monbetsu Airport, serves the port city of Monbetsu on the Sea of Okhotsk coast of northeastern Hokkaido, Japan. It sits about 7 kilometres southeast of the city and is a third-class public airport. The Hokkaido Government operates it through the Monbetsu Airport Management Office. The drive into the city takes about 15 minutes.
The current airport opened in November 1999 and replaced an older Monbetsu Airport farther from the city. One asphalt runway, 2,000 metres long and aligned 14/32, handles all traffic. The two-storey terminal building covers 1,993 square metres and is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
All Nippon Airways flies one daily round trip to Tokyo Haneda, and that route is the airport's only scheduled service. Air Nippon began the Haneda flight in 2000. Sapporo services ran at times between 1999 and 2015 and have since ended. The airport recorded 71,802 passengers and 783 aircraft movements in 2015.
