Bari Karol Wojtyła International Airport (IATA: BRI) sits in the Palese district, roughly 8 km northwest of Bari city centre. Named after Pope John Paul II, the airport began civil operations in the 1960s and serves as the primary gateway to the Puglia region of southern Italy. A modern passenger terminal opened in 2005, replacing the older facility, and has since been expanded to accommodate growing traffic.

The airport handled 7.3 million passengers in 2024, making it Italy's tenth busiest airport. Ryanair dominates the route network with over 20 destinations, while Wizz Air, Volotea, ITA Airways, easyJet, Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines, and Air France also operate regular services. The airport functions as a focus city for both Ryanair and Volotea.

A single runway (07/25, 3,000 metres) handles all commercial traffic. The Bari metropolitan railway connects the airport directly to Bari Centrale station in the city centre, and AMTAB bus Line 16 provides an additional link. Aeroporti di Puglia, the regional airport authority managing Bari, Brindisi, Foggia, and Taranto Grottaglie, operates the airport.
