Milan Bergamo Airport, officially named Il Caravaggio International Airport, sits in Orio al Serio, 5 km from Bergamo city centre and 45 km northeast of Milan. It is Italy's third-busiest airport, handling 17.4 million passengers in 2024. The airport is one of Ryanair's four largest global bases, which has driven consistent passenger growth since the carrier's arrival in 2003.

The airport operates a single terminal with two gate zones: Zone A serving Schengen and domestic routes, and Zone B handling non-Schengen flights. Low-cost carriers dominate the route network, with Ryanair accounting for the majority of movements. Other significant operators include Wizz Air, easyJet, Volotea, and Pegasus Airlines, connecting BGY to over 140 destinations across Europe and North Africa.

SACBO S.p.A. has managed the airport since its incorporation in 1970, with SEA — the operator of Milan Linate and Malpensa — holding a 31% stake. The airport forms part of the Milan airport system, which collectively handled 56.9 million passengers in 2024, making it the largest multi-airport system in Italy.
