Hamadan Airport guide

Hamadan International Airport (ICAO: OIHH) sits on the Tehran-Hamadan road, northeast of the city of Hamadan in western Iran. It is among the oldest airfields in the country. A new airport was studied in 1966, building began in 1970, and it entered service in 1972.

The field lies at 1,754 metres above sea level. Its single asphalt runway, 10/28, is 3,234 metres long, which makes it one of the longer civil runways in Iran. The surface slopes uphill for the first half and downhill for the second. The Iran Airports Company and the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force both operate at the site, so the airfield serves civil and military traffic.

The passenger terminal is a single building with an air services office, a buffet, an ATM and open parking for about 700 cars. A dedicated airport taxi runs from the terminal into the city.

Scheduled service has been irregular. Iran Air has flown to Tehran Mehrabad and Caspian Airlines to Mashhad, with seasonal flights to Jeddah and Medina. Other carriers have announced charter and pilgrimage routes, and the runway lighting has been prepared for wide-body pilgrimage flights. Check current schedules with the airline before booking, because routes start and stop.
