Nowshahr Airport guide

Nowshahr Airport (ICAO: OINN) serves the Caspian coast city of Nowshahr in Mazandaran Province, northern Iran. It sits about 19 metres below sea level on roughly 85 hectares of land beside the city. The Iran Airports Company operates it for the Government of Iran.

The airport has one asphalt runway, 10/28, listed at about 2,150 metres. Flight-support sources give the longest runway as 2,035 metres, which suits regional and light jets.

During the Pahlavi era Nowshahr was a port and a tourist resort, known as Iran's summer capital. The airport served the royal family, foreign officials visiting the Shah from Tehran, and holidaymakers. It also handled special flights from Ahvaz for National Iranian Oil Company staff, because it was the closest airport to the company's hotels in the area.

Today it handles domestic flights only. Wikipedia lists Caspian Airlines and Qeshm Air, with service to Mashhad and Shiraz. Schedules change often and some flights are cancelled, so confirm a booking with the airline before travelling.
