Syros Island National Airport (ICAO LGSO) is also named after Demetrios Vikelas, a writer born in Ermoupoli. It sits in the south of the island, about 3 km from Ermoupoli, the capital of the Cyclades, and about 144 km southeast of Athens. The airport opened in 1991 and is run by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority.

It has one asphalt runway, 18/36, measuring 1,080 m by 30 m. The length suits turboprops and small aircraft. Sky Express flies to Athens year round, and Aegean Airlines has operated seasonal flights to Heraklion and Thessaloniki.

Traffic is very small. The airport handled 18,047 passengers and 700 aircraft movements in 2018. Most visitors reach Syros by ferry from Piraeus and the other Cyclades instead, through the port of Ermoupoli.
