Alexander Kartveli Batumi International Airport guide

Batumi International Airport lies on the Black Sea coast of Adjara, about 2 km south of Batumi and close to the Turkish border. The ICAO code is UGSB. The airport carries the name of Alexander Kartveli, the Georgian-born aircraft designer, and is the main gateway to the Georgian seaside resort region.

An airfield has existed on the site since the Soviet era. The current terminal began operating on 26 May 2007, when TAV Airports Holding took over operations. TAV holds the right to operate the airport until August 2027. Between 2019 and 2021 the terminal grew from 4,256 to about 8,000 square metres, which doubled its capacity to 1.2 million passengers a year.

Traffic is strongly seasonal and peaks in summer. The airport handled about 1.2 million passengers in 2025, up 29% on 2024 when it served roughly 950,000. Airlines from Turkey, the Gulf, Central Asia, Israel and Europe fly in, among them Turkish Airlines, Pegasus, flydubai and Georgian Airways. The single asphalt runway, 12/30, is 2,500 metres long.
