Cornwall Airport Newquay guide

The airport sits on the former RAF St Mawgan site on Cornwall's north coast, near the village of St Mawgan. The airfield opened as a civilian facility in 1933, was requisitioned in the Second World War, and became RAF St Mawgan in 1943. It received its civil aerodrome licence from the Civil Aviation Authority in 2008, after RAF flying ended that December.

Scheduled traffic is seasonal and peaks in summer. Flights link Cornwall with London, Manchester, Dublin, Düsseldorf and Zurich, with Spanish and Portuguese leisure routes from Ryanair. The airport handled 415,989 passengers and 18,134 aircraft movements in 2024. Commercial flights make up only around 30 percent of its flying, with the rest coming from private operators and a flying school.

The site also hosts the Aerohub enterprise zone, created in 2012, and Spaceport Cornwall. The single 2,744 metre runway is long enough for large aircraft. The airport has no rail link. Passengers arrive by road, using car hire desks outside the arrivals hall, taxis, or the bus to Newquay and Padstow.
