London Gatwick Airport is located near Crawley in West Sussex, 48 km south of central London. It is the UK's second-busiest airport, handling 43.2 million passengers in 2024 across two passenger terminals — the North Terminal and the South Terminal. A direct rail link connects the airport to London Victoria and London Bridge in approximately 30 minutes.

Gatwick operates on a single active runway, making it the world's most efficient single-runway airport by movements per hour. A second runway exists but functions only as a standby when the main runway is out of service. The airport served 57 airlines in 2024, including long-haul routes to Singapore, Beijing, and destinations across North America, Africa, and the Middle East.

The airport first received commercial flights in 1933. After a major reconstruction between 1956 and 1958, Queen Elizabeth II reopened the modernised facility — the first airport globally to integrate air, mainline rail, and road access under one roof. Gatwick Airport Limited, majority-owned by Vinci, has operated the site since 2019.
