Castellón-Costa Azahar Airport guide

Castellón-Costa Azahar Airport sits on high ground in the municipalities of Vilanova d'Alcolea and Benlloch, in the province of Castellón on Spain's Mediterranean coast. It lies at 360 metres above sea level, inland from the coastal resorts of Benicàssim, Oropesa del Mar and Peñíscola.

The airport was built with public money and declared open in 2011, but it received no scheduled service until September 2015, when Ryanair began seasonal flights to Bristol and London Stansted. Ryanair remains the main operator. Wizz Air, Volotea and Iberia also fly from Castellón, and Smartwings operates seasonal charter service to Bratislava.

Traffic has grown steadily in recent years. The airport handled 318,309 passengers in 2025, its best year so far and 16 percent above 2024. Aerocas, the public company that runs the airport, expects more in 2026, with new Ryanair routes to Manchester and Bologna. Destinations include Berlin, Budapest, Kraków, Brussels, Milan, Bucharest and Madrid, with most international routes flown in summer. The single runway is 2,700 metres long.
