Lennart Meri Tallinn Airport sits 4 km southeast of Tallinn's city centre, beside Lake Ülemiste. It is Estonia's only international gateway and the largest airport in the Baltic states by passenger volume. The airport handled a record 3.5 million passengers in 2024, an 18% increase on the prior year. It has a single runway, 3,480 metres long, capable of handling wide-body aircraft.
The airport was officially opened on 20 September 1936, making it one of the oldest purpose-built civil aviation facilities in the region. It was renamed in 2009 to honour Lennart Meri, the first post-independence President of Estonia. The owner and operator is AS Tallinna Lennujaam, which is wholly owned by the Republic of Estonia. The company also manages four other Estonian airports.
All passenger flights operate from a single integrated terminal that handles both Schengen and non-Schengen traffic under one roof. airBaltic is the dominant carrier, operating around 109 weekly departures. The airport is undergoing a €75 million expansion to increase capacity to 5 million passengers annually by 2030.
