Annaba Rabah Bitat Airport guide

Annaba Rabah Bitat Airport serves Annaba, a port city in the northeast of Algeria. It lies 9 km south of the city and sits 5 metres above sea level. The ICAO code is DABB. The airport is named after Rabah Bitat, who was president of Algeria in 1978 and 1979.

The airport began operating in 1939 as Bône-les-Salines, after the salt lakes nearby. A decree of 16 December 1958 handed its operation to the Chamber of Commerce of Bône. After independence it was called El Mellah, the Arabic form of Les Salines, until it took its present name in 2000. EGSA Constantine now runs it.

Two asphalt runways cross the site. Runway 01/19 is 3,000 metres long and runway 05/23 is 2,290 metres long. A new international terminal opened in January 2016 and replaced the old building, which handled 500,000 passengers a year. The new terminal is built for 700,000 passengers a year and can be expanded.

Air Algérie flies to Algiers, Oran, Paris, Lyon, Marseille and Istanbul. Tassili Airlines serves Algiers, El Oued and Hassi Messaoud. Seasonal flights to France come from ASL Airlines France, Transavia and Volotea. Traffic reached about 520,000 passengers in 2018 and 2019, then fell to 105,229 in 2020 during the pandemic.
