Updated 2026-10-08

Aalborg Airport (Aalborg Lufthavn) lies in Nørresundby, about 6.5 km northwest of Aalborg city centre. It opened on 29 May 1938, after civil flights between Aalborg and Copenhagen had started in 1936 from a grass strip. Today it is the third-largest airport in Denmark, after Copenhagen and Billund. The municipalities of the region own it through the cooperative company Aalborg Lufthavn a.m.b.a.
