Charlottetown Airport guide

Charlottetown Airport is the main commercial airport of Prince Edward Island. It sits in Sherwood, about 5.6 kilometres north of the provincial capital. The airport handled 391,086 passengers in 2025, down 4.8% from the record 410,773 in 2024. The authority attributes the drop mainly to a 7.2% cut in seat capacity.

Two asphalt runways, each about 2,134 metres long, serve the field. Air Canada, Porter Airlines, WestJet, Flair Airlines and Air Transat fly from here. Routes lead to Toronto, Montréal, Ottawa, Calgary and Edmonton, and Air Transat adds seasonal sun-destination service. Many routes run only in the summer tourist season.

The airport is owned by Transport Canada and run by the Charlottetown Airport Authority under a 60-year lease that began in 1999. A Canada Border Services Agency office makes it an airport of entry. The airfield has Atlantic Time and an elevation of 51 metres. It began as a city airfield in the 1930s and served as a Royal Canadian Air Force training base in World War II. In 2026 it was renamed Charlottetown Alexander B. Campbell Airport.
