Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport guide

Updated 2026-10-19

Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport sits on the western tip of the Toronto Islands, across the Western Gap from the foot of Bathurst Street and a few kilometres from the downtown core. It opened in 1939 and was renamed in 2009 after the First World War flying ace William Avery Bishop. Most passengers cross to the island on a free 240-metre pedestrian tunnel that opened in 2015, or on a short ferry that runs every 15 minutes.
