Peterborough Regional Airport guide

Peterborough Regional Airport (ICAO CYPQ) is a public airfield in Cavan Monaghan Township, about 5.6 km (3 nautical miles) south-southwest of Peterborough, Ontario. The field sits at an elevation of 191 m (628 ft). The City of Peterborough operates it.

The main runway, 09/27, is 2,135 m (7,005 ft) long. It was extended from 1,500 m (5,000 ft) so the airport can take larger aircraft such as the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737. A second asphalt runway, 13/31, is 610 m (2,000 ft) long and was paved in 2014. A terminal building was completed in 2011.

The airport has no scheduled passenger service. Passenger flights are charters, such as the destination charters BST Vacations runs from the airport, and President Air Charter is based on the field. It is an airport of entry: Canada Border Services Agency staff clear general aviation aircraft carrying up to 15 passengers on a call-out basis from Oshawa Executive Airport.

Much of the activity is training and aviation business. Seneca Polytechnic moved its School of Aviation Technology here in January 2014 and flies 19 aircraft from the field. Flying Colours Corp. is the largest tenant, and other tenants provide maintenance, parts and charter services. The airport recorded 45,800 aircraft movements in 2018.
