Fort Hope Airport guide

Fort Hope Airport (ICAO CYFH) serves Eabametoong First Nation, also known as Fort Hope, a community on the north shore of Eabamet Lake in the Kenora District of northwestern Ontario. The airfield sits at an elevation of 899 ft (274 m), beside the community.

The airport has a single gravel runway, 09/27, 1,066 m (3,497 ft) long. The Government of Ontario operates it, and it is open year-round.

The community has no all-season road. Winter roads link it with the provincial highway system at Pickle Lake, and floatplanes serve it in the open-water season. For the rest of the year the airport is the main way in and out for passengers, freight and medical flights. Thunder Bay, about 300 km to the southwest, is the nearest large centre. Nakina Air Service, North Star Air and Wasaya Airways fly scheduled and charter services to Thunder Bay, Nakina, Pickle Lake and nearby First Nation communities. Schedules change by season, so confirm flight times with the airline before travelling.
