Wunnumin Lake Airport guide

Wunnumin Lake Airport (Transport Canada identifier CKL3) serves Wunnumin Lake First Nation, a fly-in Oji-Cree community in northwestern Ontario about 360 km northeast of Sioux Lookout. The airfield lies 3.7 km south of the community and sits at an elevation of 819 ft.

The airport has a single gravel runway, 16/34, 1,070 m (3,511 ft) long. It is owned by the Government of Ontario through the Ministry of Transportation. No customs or immigration service operates here, and no passenger statistics are published.

The community has no year-round road link. A winter road, known as the White Highway, opens in the coldest months, so the airstrip carries most passengers, mail and freight. Wasaya Airways flies scheduled service to nearby Kingfisher Lake, about 40 km to the northwest. Passengers should carry the identification their airline requires for remote northern flights, and baggage allowances on small aircraft are often tighter than on mainline routes. Schedules change by season, so confirm flight times with the airline before travelling.
