Summer Beaver Airport guide

Summer Beaver Airport (Transport Canada identifier CJV7) serves Nibinamik First Nation, also called Summer Beaver, a fly-in community in northwestern Ontario about 500 km north of Thunder Bay. The airfield lies 4.6 km southwest of the community and sits at an elevation of 833 ft.

The airport has a single gravel runway, 17/35, 1,070 m (3,509 ft) long and 30 m wide. It has threshold identification lights, runway end lights and medium-intensity edge lights. There is no weather reporting station and no firefighting service on site.

The community has no year-round road link, and the airstrip carries its passengers, mail and freight. Wasaya Airways provides scheduled and charter service, with connections to Fort Hope (Eabametoong) and Webequie. Travellers should carry the identification their airline requires for remote northern flights, and baggage allowances on small aircraft are often tighter than on mainline routes. Schedules change by season, so confirm flight times with the airline before travelling.
