Keewaywin Airport guide

Keewaywin Airport (Transport Canada identifier CPV8) serves Keewaywin First Nation, a fly-in community in northwestern Ontario about 500 km north of Thunder Bay. The airfield lies 3.7 km southwest of the community and sits at an elevation of 990 ft.

The airport has a single gravel runway, 13/31, 1,070 m (3,511 ft) long. It has no customs or immigration service and no published passenger statistics.

The community has no year-round road link, so the airstrip carries its passengers, mail and freight. Wasaya Airways is the main scheduled passenger carrier, with short hops to nearby Sandy Lake, about 34 km away. North Star Air provides cargo and charter service connecting Keewaywin with Red Lake and Winnipeg. Passengers should carry the identification their airline requires for remote northern flights, and baggage allowances on small aircraft are often tighter than on mainline routes. Schedules change by season, so confirm flight times with the airline before travelling.
