Déline Airport guide

Déline Airport serves Déline, a community of 573 people on the western shore of Great Bear Lake in the Sahtu Region of the Northwest Territories. Yellowknife lies about 544 km to the southeast. No permanent road reaches the community, so the airport is its main year-round link to the outside. A winter ice road and a summer water aerodrome supplement it. The airport was formerly called Fort Franklin Airport, after the community's earlier name.

The airport sits about 2.6 km northwest of the community. Its ICAO code is CYWJ. The single gravel runway, 08/26, is 1,199 m (3,933 ft) long. Field elevation is 214 m (702 ft). Statistics Canada recorded 1,966 aircraft movements in 2010.

The Government of the Northwest Territories operates the airport. North-Wright Airways provides scheduled passenger flights to Norman Wells, Tulita and Yellowknife, and Buffalo Airways carries cargo to Yellowknife. Travellers should confirm schedules with the carrier before they travel.
