Ulukhaktok Holman Airport guide

Ulukhaktok Holman Airport serves Ulukhaktok, a hamlet of 408 people (2021 census) on the west coast of Victoria Island in the Inuvik Region of the Northwest Territories. The ICAO code is CYHI. The community was long known as Holman, and the older name still appears on the airport. Air is the only year-round link to the hamlet, so the airport carries passengers, mail, freight and medical flights.

The airport lies about 3.7 km north of the community at an elevation of 36 m (118 ft). It has one gravel runway, 06/24, measuring 1,311 m (4,300 ft). The Government of the Northwest Territories operates it as a public airport, and it fully opened in December 1978. Statistics Canada counted about 1,000 aircraft movements in 2009.

Canadian North is the scheduled passenger carrier, with services linking Ulukhaktok to Kugluktuk and Yellowknife. Flights are infrequent, so confirm days and times with the airline before travelling. The terminal replaced an earlier two-story building, and a three-bay garage stands beside it.
