Aklavik/Freddie Carmichael Airport guide
Aklavik/Freddie Carmichael Airport (ICAO CYKD) is the only year-round way into Aklavik, a Gwich'in and Inuvialuit community of about 540 people on the Peel Channel in the Mackenzie River delta, Northwest Territories. No all-season road reaches the town. In winter an ice road runs across the delta from Inuvik, and in summer float planes use the Aklavik Water Aerodrome.
