Halifax Stanfield International Airport is located in Goffs, Nova Scotia, about 34 km northeast of downtown Halifax. It is the 8th busiest airport in Canada and the primary gateway for Atlantic Canada, serving domestic, transborder U.S., and international routes.
The airport operates from a single Air Terminal Building with 32 gate positions. It is the only airport in Atlantic Canada with U.S. Customs and Border Protection pre-clearance, allowing passengers to clear U.S. customs before departure. The airport handled nearly 4 million passengers in 2024, close to its pre-pandemic peak of 4.2 million in 2019.
The Halifax International Airport Authority (HIAA) has operated the airport since 2000. The airport is named after Robert Stanfield, a former Premier of Nova Scotia. A recently renovated international arrivals hall, called Mi'kma'ki, recognises the Indigenous peoples of the region.
