Northwest Regional Airport Terrace-Kitimat guide

The site began as a Royal Canadian Air Force base in 1943. The RCAF decommissioned it in 1945, the Department of Transport took it over in 1946, and it received its first civilian airport licence in 1947. Ownership passed to the Terrace-Kitimat Airport Society, a non-profit, in 1999.

Two asphalt runways, 15/33 at 7,497 ft and 03/21 at 5,316 ft, handle regional jets and turboprops. Air Canada Express flies to Vancouver, and WestJet Encore flies to Calgary and Vancouver, with seasonal Edmonton service. Charter operators also use the field. Traffic recovered from 168,168 passengers in 2020 to 414,997 in 2024. An $18.5 million terminal expansion was completed in 2018, and further renovations to the departure and arrival areas and parking followed in 2024. The airport offers day, long-term and corporate parking and a shuttle to Prince Rupert.
