Fort St John / North Peace Regional Airport guide

North Peace Regional Airport serves Fort St. John and the Peace River region of northeastern British Columbia. It sits at 690 metres (2,280 feet) above sea level, just outside the city.

The airport has two paved runways. Runway 12/30 measures 2,106 metres and runway 03/21 measures 2,042 metres. Both handle regional jets and turboprops. North Peace Airport Services Ltd, a subsidiary of Vantage Airport Group, operates the airport, and Vantage has managed it since 1997.

Air Canada Express and WestJet Encore provide scheduled flights to Vancouver and Calgary. Much of the traffic comes from the region's oil, gas and resource industries. The airport reported 259,015 passengers in 2024, up from 257,295 in 2015. A larger terminal building of about 30,000 square feet was funded through a CAD 8.4 million capital program.

The airfield began as a Department of Transport landing field in the late 1930s. In 1943 the U.S. Air Force rebuilt it as part of wartime northern ferry routes, and scheduled passenger service started in the early 1940s.
