Anahim Lake Airport guide

Anahim Lake Airport (IATA: YAA, Transport Canada identifier: CAJ4) is a small certified public airport in the West Chilcotin region of British Columbia. It sits at about 1,111 m (3,644 ft) above sea level, roughly 1.9 km south of the village of Anahim Lake, beside Highway 20.

The airport has one maintained asphalt runway, 13/31. A gravel east-west strip is still visible but is neither maintained nor used. The paved airstrip officially opened in October 1979, and the airport gained Transport Canada certification in 2010, which a scheduled carrier needs to keep serving it. A new terminal building opened in 2014.

The Cariboo Regional District owns the airport and contracts its day-to-day management to a private aircraft services company. Pacific Coastal Airlines runs scheduled service to Vancouver, carrying about 3,000 passengers a year. Bella Coola Heli Sports handles roughly 50 charter flights a year. The airport also supports medical evacuation flights for the surrounding remote communities. In 2024 it recorded 1,225 aircraft arrivals and departures, 26 of them medevacs.
