Medicine Hat Regional Airport guide

Medicine Hat Regional Airport sits about 3.7 kilometres southwest of Medicine Hat, Alberta, at an elevation of 717 metres. It is the aviation hub for southeast Alberta. The airport has two asphalt runways: a 1,525-metre main runway (03/21) and a 869-metre crosswind runway (09/27).

In 2019 the airport handled about 75,000 passengers and roughly 50 flights a week. WestJet flew its final scheduled flight to Calgary on June 24, 2026, and no replacement carrier has been named. The City of Medicine Hat is courting a new airline, and the Government of Alberta has asked carriers to express interest in regional service. The city has put more than $25 million into airport upgrades since 2013.

Today the airport supports charter flights, air ambulance missions, professional pilot training and general aviation. The site began as a Second World War training station: RCAF Station Medicine Hat hosted No. 34 Service Flying Training School from 1941 to 1944. An Airport Master Plan is under way to set a 20-year vision. The terminal has no on-site rental car agency at present; taxis and rideshare serve the airport.
