Edmonton International Airport sits 30 km south of downtown Edmonton in Leduc County, making it one of Canada's more remote major airports relative to its primary city. It covers just under 28 km², the largest footprint of any airport in Canada by land area. WestJet and Flair Airlines both use YEG as a hub, giving the airport a strong low-cost carrier presence alongside legacy carrier Air Canada.

The airport ranks fifth in Canada by passenger traffic and handles a mix of domestic, transborder, and international routes. US pre-clearance is available on-site, allowing passengers flying to American destinations to clear US customs before departure. A Renaissance hotel is integrated into the terminal building, providing airside access for guests.

Edmonton Airports, officially the Edmonton Regional Airports Authority, has operated the facility since 1992 under a long-term lease from Transport Canada. The authority also manages Villeneuve Airport northwest of the city.
