Sir Seretse Khama International Airport is Botswana's busiest airport, located 15 kilometres north of central Gaborone. Named after the country's first president, the airport opened in 1984 and serves as the primary gateway for both international and domestic travel in Botswana. A major expansion in 2008 increased the terminal area from 3,140 m² to 17,000 m², significantly boosting passenger capacity.

The airport sits at an elevation of 1,006 metres above sea level and operates a single 4,000-metre concrete runway. Air Botswana uses the airport as its hub, with Airlink and Ethiopian Airlines providing additional regional and international connections. Johannesburg is reachable in approximately one hour by air, making GBE a common transit point between southern Africa and the rest of the continent.

In 2024, the airport handled 407,813 passengers and recorded 10,755 aircraft movements. A special economic zone established at the site in 2017 houses Botswana's Civil Aviation Authority, the Botswana Innovation Hub, and a diamond sector hub, reflecting the airport's role beyond aviation.
