Lynden Pindling International Airport guide

Lynden Pindling International Airport is the busiest airport in the Bahamas, sitting on the western side of New Providence Island near Nassau. In fiscal year 2024 it handled a record 4.06 million passengers, exceeding the pre-pandemic mark set in 2019. The airport operates a U.S. Customs and Border Protection preclearance facility, letting travelers clear U.S. immigration and customs before departure so they arrive at their U.S. destination as a domestic passenger.

Bahamasair, the national carrier, is based here and connects Nassau to destinations across the Bahamas, the Caribbean and the United States. American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and JetBlue Airways run frequent service to major U.S. cities including Miami, New York and Atlanta, while Air Canada, British Airways and Copa Airlines provide onward international links. Regional operators Western Air, Pineapple Air and Flamingo Air serve smaller Bahamian islands from Nassau.

The site began as Windsor Field, a Royal Air Force training station established in 1942. It opened for civilian and commercial service as Nassau International Airport on November 1, 1957, and was renamed in 2006 for Lynden Pindling, the country's first prime minister. Nassau Airport Development Company, a Government of the Bahamas entity, owns the airport; Vantage Airport Group operates it.
