Inagua Airport guide

Inagua Airport (ICAO: MYIG), also called Matthew Town Airport, is the public airfield on Great Inagua, the southernmost island of the Bahamas. It stands about 4 km from Matthew Town, the island's only settlement of any size, at an elevation of 17 feet above sea level.

The airport is a joint civil-military field. It has a single asphalt runway, 2,138 metres (7,014 feet) long, and it hosts a U.S. Coast Guard air facility alongside general aviation traffic.

Bahamasair is the scheduled carrier, linking Great Inagua with Nassau's Lynden Pindling International Airport. Great Inagua has a population of 856 (2022) and is home to the Morton Salt works, the island's largest employer. The island also holds a bird sanctuary with more than 80,000 West Indian flamingos, so the airport serves salt-works staff, residents and visitors to the sanctuary.
