Governor's Harbour Airport guide

Governor's Harbour Airport (ICAO MYEM) sits on Eleuthera, a long, narrow island in the central Bahamas. The field lies about 13 km north of the settlement of Governor's Harbour, which is the island's administrative centre and the usual starting point for visitors heading to the surrounding beaches and settlements.

It is the second most active of Eleuthera's three airports. The other two are North Eleuthera Airport near Harbour Island and Rock Sound International Airport in the south. Governor's Harbour has one asphalt runway, designated 15/33, about 2,446 m (8,025 ft) long. That length is far more than the scheduled turboprop services need and suits larger and private aircraft as well.

Scheduled flights link the island with Nassau on Bahamasair and Pineapple Air, and American Eagle connects it with Miami, with seasonal service to Charlotte. American Airlines began its service here in 2024. The passenger terminal was renovated and reopened in 2025 as part of a wider push to improve infrastructure for the island's growing visitor numbers.

The airport sits at an elevation of about 8 m (26 ft). Most travellers arrive for beach holidays, fishing and sailing, and rent a car or take a taxi for the rest of the journey along the island's single main road.
