Bonaire International Airport, also known as Flamingo Airport, sits 3 kilometres north of Kralendijk on the Caribbean island of Bonaire. The airport serves as the largest in the Caribbean Netherlands, with a 2,880-metre runway capable of handling wide-body jets including the Airbus A350-900. KLM operated the first scheduled passenger flight to Bonaire in 1936; the current airport was built in 1945.
The airport handled 447,500 passengers in 2023, a 4 percent increase on 2022 and 17 percent above pre-pandemic levels. Amsterdam is the busiest long-haul route, accounting for 42 percent of traffic, while short-hop connections to Curaçao represent 74 percent of all flights. North American carriers American Airlines, Delta, JetBlue, and United operate seasonal and year-round service from multiple US gateways.
Bonaire International Airport N.V. operates the facility on behalf of the island's public authority. The terminal was expanded to handle 500 passengers per hour, up from 300, and offers check-in counters, a departure lounge with retail and dining, and full accessibility services including an ambulift.
