Burgas Airport sits in the Sarafovo district, 10 km northeast of Burgas city centre on Bulgaria's southern Black Sea coast. It is Bulgaria's second-busiest airport, handling around 1.8 million passengers in 2023 — still recovering from pandemic disruption, with traffic running about 36% below the 2019 peak of 3.3 million. A single 3,200-metre runway serves the airport, which covers over 2.5 square kilometres and has stands for 24 aircraft.

The airport operates strongly as a seasonal leisure gateway. Traffic peaks sharply in July and August when charter and low-cost carriers bring holiday-makers to the coastal resorts. Ryanair, Wizz Air, Jet2, easyJet, Smartwings, and TUI Airways account for most movements. Poland, the UK, and Czech Republic generate the highest passenger volumes. Year-round scheduled services are limited.

Terminal 2, opened in December 2013, replaced the original 1950s structure and handles all passenger traffic. It has 31 check-in counters, nine security lanes, and eight departure gates, with separate Schengen and non-Schengen arrivals zones. The airport has been managed since 2006 by Fraport Twin Star Airport Management under a 35-year concession from the Bulgarian government.
