Jessore Airport guide

Jashore Airport serves Jashore and the wider south-western region of Bangladesh, including Khulna. It sits at Arabpur, about 6 km west of the centre of Jashore, and is the only operating airport in Khulna Division. The runway also forms part of BAF Matiur Rahman Base, a Bangladesh Air Force station that uses the field for flight training.

The Royal Air Force built the airfield in 1940 to guard British India against Japanese attack. Civil flights began in 1951, when Pakistan International Airlines started services to Dhaka, Karachi, Lahore and Chattogram. The airfield was heavily damaged in the 1971 war. Biman Bangladesh Airlines resumed Dhaka flights after independence.

The single asphalt runway, 16/34, is 2,438 m (8,000 ft) long. A new terminal opened on 31 July 2023 at a cost of about 32.9 crore taka. It is rated for 1 million passengers a year and has eight check-in counters, five baggage scanners and a VIP lounge. The airport handled 175,596 passengers in 2023. Flights are domestic, mostly to Dhaka, with additional links to Chattogram and Cox's Bazar.
